She also provides free medical treatment to indigenous ranch workers, their families, and local residents who cannot afford medical treatment.

Dr. Vivas maintains relationships with the medical staff of many local hospitals and can refer patients for appropriate medical treatment when needed. She has recently won the "Real Heroes of Mexico" award for her tireless efforts to improve the lives of the indigenous workers though education and access to medical care.
