So, you’re thinking of booking your Mexico vacation in paradise at El Palmar but you are wondering what’s the closest airport to Melaque, Mexico!
Manzanillo International airport (ZLO)- is only 35 minutes south of Melaque. During the high season, November through March, several airlines offer direct weekly flights. Direct flights from the US to Manzanillo originate in Houston via United, Phoenix via America West and Los Angeles via America West and Alaska. From Chicago, to Manzanillo, US. Airways, and United are offering the best Fares.
Direct flights from Canada can usually be found on West Jet or Transat via charter service, your travel agent can help you find those flights. Taxis from the airport to Melaque are approximately $35 USD. a suburban $60 USD. Returning to the airport from Melaque is $20 USD. There is no direct bus service from the airport to Melaque.
Alternatively, you can fly to Puerto Vallarta and rent a car or take a bus 4 hours south along the well-maintained Hwy 200. The road between Puerto Vallarta and Melaque is good, but narrow and windy. If your flight arrives in the evening, plan to stay in a hotel in Puerto Vallarta and leave the next morning. It’s best to avoid highway driving at night. Most major airlines serve Puerto Vallarta. Flights to Puerto Vallarta are usually less expensive than those to Manzanillo, but once you factor in the 4 hours on the bus and a possible overnight in Puerto Vallarta we would recommend going directly to Manzanillo!
